When you decide to buy a new homeowner's insurance plan, you can contact one home insurance agency or many to ask for quotes. When you talk to an agent, you will have to answer some questions. Agents ask questions to determine if they want to offer you a policy and to determine the risk level you pose. Here are some of the questions you can expect the agent to ask you during this conversation.
Do You Have a Trampoline?
The agent you speak to will ask if you have a trampoline. If so, you might pay extra for it, as trampolines pose risks to insurance companies. Some companies might decline to offer you a quote for coverage if you have a trampoline. Insurance companies handle trampolines in different ways, but you can expect them to ask if you have one.
Do You Have a Swimming Pool?
The second thing they might ask about is if you have a swimming pool. A swimming pool also poses extra risks to an insurance company. After all, if someone drowns in your pool, they could sue you. If this happens, your insurance company handles the claim and costs for the claim. While an insurance company might agree to offer you insurance if you have a pool, they might require boosting the coverage on your policy.
What Breed Are Your Dogs?
Insurance agents often ask homeowners if they have dogs. If so, what breeds do they have? Dogs can bite people, and dog bites can lead to personal injury cases. As a result, the insurance agent needs to know this information before offering you a quote.
Do You Have a Wood Burner?
A home insurance agent will ask a lot of questions about your home, including if you have a wood burner. A wood burner can also pose extra risks, which means you might pay more for coverage if you have one.
How Old Is Your House?
Your home's age also affects the costs of your plan. New houses might cost less to insure as they have new materials in them. Older homes might have older systems, which are more prone to causing damage in a home.
These are just some of the questions a home insurance agent asks when a person calls for a quote for home insurance. They might ask others, too. If you would like a quote, you can contact a company that offers home insurance services, like LH Griffith and Company.

I still remember the first time I had to chose an insurance policy; I was 17 years old and had just saved up enough money to afford my very first car. I was so excited to begin driving, but overwhelmed with all of the different auto insurance options. My father helped me chose a full-coverage policy that would cover the cost of my car if it were to become damaged in an accident. When I inevitably caused a small fender-bender as a new driver, my insurance company paid for my car repairs, so it sure was the best policy for me! Now that I am older and have learned a lot about home insurance and other types of insurance, I thought I would make a blog to help others who need insurance advice, like what my dad gave me. I hope I can help you make wise insurance decisions!
